On a weekend, we decided to visit Christopher’s in Covent Garden for a birthday brunch. Covent Garden is a wonderful place with many markets to explore. All over Instagram, I kept seeing images of french toast, made with brioche bread and a scoop of ice-cream on top. I knew I had to try this place.
A 5 minute from Covent Garden station, located on Wellington Street, are some steps leading to a giant step of doors. It was the entrance to Christophers. Before visiting Christopher’s I strongly recommend booking a table, otherwise, you may have to wait for hours. When you step into Christopher’s you are greeted by the receptionist in a black themed foyer, giving it a plush feel.
They offer to take your coat and then direct you upstairs to where a waiter or waitress will show you to your seat. We were seated at the table and it didn’t take long to order what we had come for. The chocolate brioche French toast! With a choice of dark or milk chocolate. We went for the milk chocolate for this occasion.
Christopher’s Chocolate Brioche French Toast!
The food arrived promptly and was presented very well on the plate. There was a serving of rich runny chocolate on the side, so you can pour it over your French toast. As soon as the chocolate hits the ice-cream, it instantly solidifies but remains soft, creating an ever-so-tasty delicacy. The french toast was crisp on the edges, soft in the inside and oozed out chocolate. It was delicious and rich. For some it may be a bit too much, if that’s you, I would say to go with the darker chocolate.
Why not try to recreate this Brioche French toast from home?
We loved this French toast so much, that we decided to replicate the recipe from home, with my very own twist. Instead of a chocolate sauce, we went for berry sauce and used dark chocolate from Chocolateeha. (Use the code GRUB to get 20% off from Chocolateeha). I really recommend trying the recipe out yourself from home. You would not regret it.
